Black Grouse (Lyrurus tetrix)
Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis)
Male differs from Capercaillie in smaller size, stockier build, curled outer tail-feathers and pure white under tail-coverts. Both sexes with white wing bars. Female more evenly speckled than Capercaillie, lacking brick coloured patches on breast an neck. Much less noisy when flushed than Capercaillie.
Sound:Song: a far reaching, continuous, bubbly cooing, occasionally interrupted by a hissing "chooo-eee". Female calls with a nasal "go-go-go-gooo", ending on a falling drawn-out note.

CCA medium sized, black and white goose. Black breast, white cheeks and forehead. Differs from the much bigger Canada Goose by the black breast. At distance the white head can be difficult to see, and the strong contrast between the black breast and the light belly is the best character to tell it apart from Brent Goose.
Sound:Voice: Quite vocal. Contact call a short yapping, barking sound like a small dog. Also other lower, grunting sounds when grazing.
